Well, though it wasn't very exciting, we did have a meeting today. Philip Graves and Stan (I'm sorry, I don't know his last name) along with myself, were present. We went over a few of the more popular arguements for, or against Gay Marriage. I argued for both sides, to mix things up a bit... it was fun.
Well... I hope to see more of you there next Tuesday, with more ideas and thoughts. I hope Philip and Stan spread the word, because it's much more exciting with more than three people.
The next meeting will be the thirteenth of October, once again in Mr. Evans' room.
See you there,
Becker.

Update dears.
Alrighty, so our second meeting is tomorrow. The first one was the fifteenth of September, and I have to say that over all, I was pleased with the results. We came up with many topics for discussion, most concerning the government and other social issues that are at the heart of our society. The topic of Gay Marriage was chosen for the second meeting on the twenty-second.
Well... I have heard mixed results, from the meeting going well, to it going...not so well. Most reviews matching the latter.
While I understand this topic is very touchy for some, I must also stress that everyone needs to remain respectful and civil. This means that insults, yelling, and general unreasonablness will not be tolerated. You will be asked to lower your voice, rephrase your views to a respectable level, and or apoligize for any and all insults. If you cannot act like mature young adults, you will then be asked to leave.
I am hoping that we can readdress this topic tomorrow, in depth, and possibly more effectively than at the last meeting. That being said, once it becomes clear that this, and any other topic, has been talked to death, we will move on. This does not mean anyone will be able to ignore that request and continue speaking once the subject has been closed. This will save time, patience and honestly, it's just common courtesy.
So, due to Charlie Robert leaving the school, and my absence, I no longer have the list of people that attended any of the meetings, or the topics we had suggested. I would love to be able to credit those that showed up, and put in their two cents worth, so if you were there at any of the meetings please feel free to leave a comment with your name and what meeting you attended.
Also, in order to expand our list of topics, it would be great to hear (well read,) suggestions here, that can then be discussed both here, on the blog, and in the actual meetings. Please keep in mind that I moderate all comments and will not allow any insults or other irrational behavior, so think before you type, and we can avoid all of that.
Well, I hope to see many of you there, and maybe some new faces. Just a reminder, the meeting is in Mr. Evans' room (312) at lunch, and topics being brought to the meeting is greatly apreciated.
Thank you for reading, and sticking with us thus far.
Becker.
P.S. I don't know how much of this blog you have explored, but over to the left side, there are links to news and informational websites to help you get some ideas for topics. And at the very bottom of the page there is a 'news updater' from Fox, which is typically uptodate and recent.

Club Day excitement!
A new year, new faces, new club = very busy!
Well, today was Club Day at our little highschool, and I was pleased to see so many new faces at our booth! I hope to see many of them at the first meeting!
Speaking of that, our first meeting is Tuesday, the fifteenth, at lunch in Mr. Evans' room. I am excited to see what new members bring to the table, whether it be new friends or great topics.
So, with that, I hope you all had a great Wednesday!
OH! Our first football home game is THIS Friday! Green and Gold, and Hawaiian themed, so brings your leis and spirit, and see you all there!

Third Meeting.
Well, today was the supposed to be the third meeting of the debate club.
And I was not able to make it. In fact, I wasn't even at school. I am truly sorry I wasn't able to let anyone know that I would not be there, and that the meeting would either have to be done by someone else, or not happen entirely.
Well, any wayThursday's meeting is still going as planned. The topic will either be the Don't ask Don't tell, or we will decide on another one.
I hope to see people there, and maybe even some new faces.
Come on Red Bluff High, let's hear your opinions!

Second Meeting
Well, today was the second 'official' meeting of the new Debate Club, and the first meeting where people actually came. It was extremely exciting, let me tell you.
Here is the list of people that attended:
Kenny Farmer
Annaly Ramirez
Tyler Phillips
Philip Graves
Carson Dunbar
Sierra Scholzen
Thank you so much for coming to today's meeting.
All seven of us debated the hot topic of gay marriage with mixed results. On one hand there were new opinions put out there, and on the other it was kind of like beating a dead horse. But I think over all it was a rewarding experience.
The next meeting will be Tuesday the 20th. Absolutely everyone is invited. Teachers, counselors, students, and even people who just want to sit in the corner and just listen. I would love to hear more opinions, as well as share my own with others. Please remember to try and bring at least one topic suggestion. The topics can be anything- things from the news, school issues, social issues, and well, basically anything that you feel needs to be discussed.
The next meeting is Tuesday the 20th. The topic is whether or not the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy should be removed from the Military. For more information on this topic go here.
Have a good weekend, and hope to see you there!
